What is a Non-Fungible Token (NFT)?
Non-fungible tokens or NFTs are cryptographic digital assets stored on a blockchain with unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other.
Unlike cryptocurrencies, NFTs cannot be traded or exchanged at equivalency because each token is unique and represents a distinct asset or right.
NFT Use Cases
- Digital artwork
- Real estate and property rights
- University degrees and identity credentials
- In-game items and avatars
- Domain names
- Event tickets
- Collectibles
Important Note
NFTs provide a public certificate of authenticity and proof of ownership, but they do not prevent copying or sharing the underlying digital file itself.
