Asset Tokenization Process

The lifecycle of a token generally follows a structured process from minting to transfer and eventual retirement.

Token Lifecycle

  1. A physical or digital asset with unique characteristics is identified.
  2. The asset is tokenized and recorded on the blockchain.
  3. Metadata or unique characteristics are embedded into the token.
  4. The token is minted and listed for sale or auction.
  5. Cryptocurrency is used to purchase the token and the transaction is recorded on the blockchain.
  6. Ownership is transferred from the minter to the buyer.
  7. After use or consumption, the token may be removed from circulation.

Burning

Burning is the process of sending a token to an inaccessible wallet address so it cannot be used again. While the token still exists on the blockchain, it is effectively removed from circulation.

Core Outcome

Tokenization allows physical or digital ownership rights to be represented, transferred, and verified in a transparent and secure way through blockchain technology.
