Identity and Access Management Overview (IAM)

Identity and Access Management ensures that the right entities have access to the right resources at the right time for the right reasons, helping protect data confidentiality.

IAM can generally be divided into four areas:

• Identity management
• Identity governance
• Access management
• Privileged access management

Each of these areas is covered in detail in the sections that follow.
