Do
- Be cautious when using public Wi-Fi because information shared over it may be misused.
- Review the default privacy settings of the phone, applications, and social media accounts.
- Check an application’s reputation, authenticity, privacy policy, and permissions before installing it.
- Download applications from genuine sources.
- Turn off or remove unnecessary applications.
- Register for the Do Not Disturb service with the telecom operator.
- Use parental controls when handing a phone to a child or minor.
- Encrypt the device and SD card to protect confidential data.
- Protect the device with a strong PIN, password, or biometrics and enable auto-lock.
- Back up contacts, photos, and other important data regularly.
Do not
- Reply to or click links sent by strangers through SMS, email, or chat.
- Store classified or sensitive data, including text, video, or photographs, unnecessarily on the device.
- Log in to financial or other sensitive accounts over public wireless networks.
